Made for curls

I never loved having curls until I learnt how to look after them.

As a teenager I spent hours straightening my hair . It wasn’t until my twenties when I learnt to embrace what I was born with and how to look after it.

I have strong memories of ripping out hair ties and my grandma insisting that it always looked better after being brushed.

Armed with the right products, good direction and a specialist curl cut by Tahni Daniels, I was on my way.

However being a restless sleeper, my silk pillow case wasn’t enough to stop my curls turning into frizzy tangles overnight.

Tahni and I put our heads together and developed a design that could fit our curls, felt comfortable and stayed on all night.

Finally, not only am I getting more days out of my curls between washes, but I am enjoying having curls even more than before.

Why Silk?

  • The smooth texture of silk allows hair to glide over it as you rest, reducing frizz and tangles.

  • Silk is a fabric that’s naturally temperature-regulating, making it breathable so it’s never too hot or cold in any situation.

  • Silk keeps your hair hydrated, encouraging stronger, less brittle hair. While cotton may absorb your hair’s natural moisture and oils, silk locks in hydration and encourages your hair’s natural movement.

What You Pay For

I am passionate about making a good product for curls, that is produced in Aotearoa and has as little impact on the environment as possible.

Here are some key points that I used as a framework for this business.

  • Using 100% Silk Satin

  • Using as little plastic as possible

  • Producing a product within New Zealand

  • Packaging that is either recyclable and/or reusable.

  • Sourcing as many components from other New Zealand owned and operated companies.

  • Making a cap that looks and feels good.

This means that each cap will be made available in small regular quantities, protective packaging made from recycled materials with a price point that reflects all of the above.
